2023 Toyota Tacoma: Street Cruiser Meets Weekend Warrior
2023 Toyota Tacoma: Street Cruiser Meets Weekend Warrior
This 2023 Toyota Tacoma we built for a customer is a perfect example of what happens when you combine a clean street look with real off-road capability. It’s not just a show truck, and it’s not just a trail rig—it’s both.
Suspension Setup: Pro Comp 6″ Cranked to 8″ with Custom Bilsteins
This Tacoma started with a Pro Comp 6-inch lift kit, but we took it a step further.
We built a set of custom Bilstein coilovers in-house, tuned specifically for this truck. With the way we set it up, the front end is adjustable from about 6 inches up to roughly 8 inches of lift, so the customer has room to fine-tune the stance while still keeping the ride comfortable.
To get the geometry dialed in and improve strength up front, we paired everything with ICON billet upper control arms. That combo gives:
-
Better alignment range
-
Smoother suspension travel
-
Increased durability for both street and off-road use
Even with the extra lift, this Tacoma still rides nice and comfy—no sketchy, bouncy feel.
Wheel & Tire Package #1: Forged Street Setup
In the photos, the truck is sitting on a street-focused setup:
-
Wheels: Fuel Forged FF115 – 22×14
-
Tires: Ironman Mud Claw – 33×12.50R22
This combo gives the truck that aggressive, low-profile, wide-stance look that turns heads on the road. It’s built more for cruising and daily driving, not rock crawling—and that’s exactly what the customer wanted for this set.
Forged wheels like these are a big investment, so it makes sense to use them mainly for street duty where they can stay clean and damage-free.
Wheel & Tire Package #2: Ready-to-Roll Off-Road Setup
Because this customer likes to use his truck, not just look at it, we set him up with a second wheel and tire combo ready to bolt on:
-
Wheels: 17-inch setup
-
Tires: 35-inch Nitto Trail Grapplers
This package is built for real off-road use—more sidewall, more flex, and a lot more confidence when the terrain gets rough. By swapping over to this setup, he can hit:
-
Rougher trails
-
Beach access roads
-
Areas where he’s pushing the limits of the truck a little more
And he doesn’t have to worry about beating up those nice Fuel Forged 22s in the process.
Two Looks, One Truck: Street vs. Off-Road
Every customer has their own style:
-
Some want that clean street look with big forged wheels and a lower-profile mud tire.
-
Others want the hardcore off-road look with a thick sidewall and more tire under the truck.
-
And some, like this customer, want both—a street setup for cruising and a more serious wheel/tire combo for when it’s time to explore.
This Tacoma is a great balance of form and function. It looks good when it’s rolling through town, and it’s fully capable when it’s time to get off the pavement.
Built to Use—But Not Bulletproof
One thing we always remind people:
No matter how built a truck is, nothing is bulletproof.
This Tacoma is absolutely set up for:
-
Street cruising
-
Weekend off-roading
-
Beach days
-
Light to moderate trail use
But like any vehicle, you still have to be aware of your surroundings and use common sense. Don’t send it past what the terrain and the truck can realistically handle. A properly built truck gives you more capability and more confidence—but you can still break things if you push it too far.
